Ann Demeulemeester

A founding member, along with Raf Simons and Dries Van Noten, of Belgian’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts famous ‘Antwerp Six,’ Demeulemeester is the original modern rough-luxury designer. With her rock aesthetic and experimental way with cut and shape, it’s little surprise that her perennial muse is cooler-than-thou Patti Smith. She branched out into menswear in 1996, quickly garnering a following for her slim cut black suits, draped overcoats and military-inspired boots.
